Lake Zurich senior Kelsey Rothas made sure to avoid any mistakes at this season’s Top Times indoor state meet.

After placing ninth in the pole vault last season, she left Bloomington with a Class 3A first-place medal in the pole vault after clearing 11-6.

“The week before indoor (state) was really important for me to focus on my technique, and my coach helped me fix some things that were wrong and put me in a position to be successful at the meet,” Rothas said. “Once I was at the meet, it was all about focusing and not being intimidated.”
