Saifi Gets Individual Gold at NJSIAA Meet of Champions in Pole Vault

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Gov. Livingston High School pole vaulter Leah Saifi can now add the NJSIAA Meet of Champions title to her accomplishments with a mark of 12-00, a personal best. Saifi’s win is the first Meet of Champions indoor winner for Gov. Livingston.

Earlier this season, Saifi, a junior, captured titles in the  NJSIAA Group II Relays [with her sister Lauren, a sophomore at GL]; the NJSIAA Group Championship; and placed second in the NJSIAA Group 2 Championship.

“We could not be more proud of Leah’s accomplishment,” said head Winter Track Coach Daniel Guyton. “Winning an individual overall State Championship is quite an achievement. She was able to stay focused and compete at a very high level today.  She works so hard and I know this is something that she wanted and we couldn’t be happier for her.”

In addition to Saifi claiming the title, Brian Rubenstein placed seventh in pole vault with a mark of 13-06; Michelle Almeida placed 25th in Shot Put with a throw of 36-08.5; Evan Stuart placed 23rd in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 52.10, a personal best; Andrew Aguiliera placed 28th in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8:21; and Brandon Monroe competed in High Jump.
