What was you most memorable meet or race?
My most memorable meet would be the State Championships of 2012 because I went into that meet as an underdog that no one really knew but jumped well and had the honor of being state runner up my junior year.
Who was your biggest competition?
My biggest competition was always my teammate Kaylee VanBlarcum, who told me I should pole vault.. She always pushed me at meets and we would always have a close height in vault.
If you could do it all over again is there anything you would change?
If I had the opportunity to do my track career again I would change wishing it away and wanting to be in college. Even though I am prepared for college and am looking forward to college I know high school track is a time in my life I will never forget. It also help set my base for college.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
My advice for younger athletes is to find an event or sport they love. An athlete needs to be fully invested in getting better and needs to put time and effort to be the best athlete they can be which requires a love for the the sport.
What will you miss the most?
The thing I will miss the most is having my parents supporting me at every meet, since they will only come to a few since I will be in college. I will also miss all my goofy, determined, and supportive teammates and coaches.
My college plans are to attend Drake University and be a member of the track team.
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank all my coaches who believed in me and pushed me to be the best pole vaulter I could be in High School. I would also not be where I am today in my track career without my mom and dad. They have provided me with everything and have always believed in me. I also need to thank my teammates for all their support and encouragement.
