Jake Carroll began his junior year hitting eight feet in the pole vault. By the end of his senior year, his personal record was 14-3. He hopes to get up to 16 in college. The recent Croatan grad will try to hit that goal at Campbell.

“I’d like to end up at the Olympic trials before it is all said and done,” Carroll said. His meteoric rise in the event saw him flirt with pole vaulting in the winter indoor season as a sophomore before taking it seriously as a junior. When he hit 13-0, he knew he had something going.
