Paris – On June 30, 2018, American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks triumphed in the men’s pole vault competition at the IAAF Diamond League event in Paris.
Kendricks bested some stiff competition from fellow pole vaulters Mondo Duplantis (5.90 meters) and world record holder Renaud Lavillenie (5.84 meters), leaving them in second and third place respectively. Kendricks was able to clear 5.96 meters on his second attempt, where he improved this year’s world leading mark, surpassing Lavillenie’s previous world leading height (5.95 meters).
