Sean Lim reclaims national pole vault record, Athlete jumps 5.01m to beat old record of 4.91m

SINGAPORE — Sean Lim reclaimed the national pole vault record with a leap of 5.01 metres. The 21-year-old also became the first Singaporean to break the 5-metre mark, boosting the Republic’s medal chances at the next SEA Games.

At the Myanmar Games last year, Thailand’s Sompang Saombankuay cleared 5 metres to claim bronze.

Lim attained the record at Bukit Gombak stadium during a Singapore Athletic Association Track & Field Series 3 event. He broke the 4.91-metre mark set by Chan Sheng Yao earlier this month.

Both athletes have been taking turns to rewrite the record books in the last few months. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
