Services’ Kundan sets new national record in pole vault

Kundan of Services won gold medal in the pole vault setting a new national record of 5.6 meters on Sunday at the ongoing 54th National Open Athletics Competition 2014 being held at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

 

He broke the record previously held by Bhopal’s K.P. Bhiman (5.13 meters).

 

“Today is a big day for me. I’m very happy with my performance. I will try to perform better in future days as well,” Kundan shared with iamin after the win.

 

Praveen Kumar of ONGC won silver medal and Krishna of Railways bagged bronze by clearing the height of 4.90 meters and 4.85 meters respectively.
