SHELBYVILLE — Carson Beyers, a Shelbyville senior and Illinois State Scholar, had not thought about competing in track and field at the college level before the 2019 Illinois Top Prep Times Indoor Meet at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan.
“It just kind of came up naturally,” said Beyers. “I got a few emails from Monmouth College and the Illinois College coach Jason Haynes talked to me at the meet saying they were looking for a pole vaulter. It kind of threw me off guard.”
