Six Tar Heels Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS  – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced the 2013 All-Academic distinctions for the outdoor season, meriting six Tar Heels to the men and women’s lists.

Rising senior Lianne Farber, rising junior Cameron Overstreet and rising sophomores Sarah Howard and Tory Kemp made the women’s All-Academic honor roll while rising senior Ryan Ramsey and rising sophomore Houston Summers were named to the men’s All-Academic honor roll.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Outdoor Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds). A total of 710 women from 187 institutions and 448 men from 149 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined efforts in competition and in the classroom in 2013.

Farber, Howard, Kemp, Overstreet and Ramsey were also named All-ACC Academic for the outdoor season in June. A full release of the women’s team can be found here and the men’s team here.
