Southwestern’s Cassidy Allen sets state small school pole vault record

Cassidy Allen, a senior at Southwestern in Jamestown who was pole vaulting in the 10-foot range nine months earlier, cleared 13 feet, 3 inches Sunday in the PPV Veteran’s Vault Invitational on Sunday in Warsaw.

Allen broke the record for state girls small school (Division 2) athletes at the competition for unattached athletes at Warsaw Pole Vault Club, a training center for vaulters, including former Orchard Park standout Leah Pasqualetti, the girls national record holder. Pasqualetti is now a freshman at Kent State.
