Touted as “one of the best leagues in the Nation” by PrepCalTrack, the Southwest League finals May 2nd did not disappoint; 65 EPI Elite marks were met between the six competing teams.
The EPI Elite marks are a standardized level of excellence and are based upon the previous season’s best performance marks; the number of high-quality marks in an event provides a quick rating of the overall strength and depth of any given meet. Generally, the 100th-best mark in a given event – for the sixteen standard dual meet events — at the end of the previous season is used as the cut-off point for the current season. Sixty-five marks in the sixteen events were better than the EPI Elite standards.
Vista Murrieta once again showed their depth by coming out on top with Southwestern League Championships in both the girls and boys divisions although Great Oak stole the show with regards to standout individual efforts as they broke seven league finals records.
