Spring Lake’s Gabriella LeRoux couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish out her high school track and field career.
She set the Division 2 meet record by clearing 12-6 in the pole vault to capture a third consecutive state title. She also was part of a state runner-up team in the Lakers’ 800-meter relay.
LeRoux has been named the Muskegon Chronicle’s girls track and field athlete of the year.
After what she considered a disappointing season in the pole vault, LeRoux came through in the biggest meet. She broke the previous state record of 12-4 set by Kristen Hixson of Remus Chippewa Hills in 2010.
