Staten Island High School Girls’ Track & Field: Sea’s Farid wins at CHSAA Varsity Meet

St. Joseph by-the-Sea’s Erini Farid rewrote her school record and won the CHSAA Varsity Meet pole vault competition Sunday, scaling 9 feet, 9 inches at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center, in Manhattan.

Farid, who had a previous best of 9-6, cleared 8-6 in her first attempt; 9-6 in two attempts, and then posted the winning mark in two jumps. The Vikings’ senior was unsuccessful at 10-1.

Notre Dame Academy had a good day on the track, carting four sets of medals.

NDA’s freshman Sydney Rice and Olivia Jaenicke sparked the Gators relays, running respectable legs on the second-place 4×800 (10 minutes, 4.6 seconds) and distance medley (13:44.8), respectively.

Alexa Roda and Ariella Garcia completed the 4×800, while Brianne Garcia and Lauren Pitarresi were on the DMR.
