The Olympics are over, now what? Well, in 2022 we have Worlds, and that event will be here before you know it. Olympic coverage is all the news for last month and just like much of the news that happens around the world, it is here and gone just like that. In this issue of Vaulter Magazine, we have a cover that makes collectors go crazy. All the Olympians on one cover that earned a medal. We have two articles this month, one for men and one for women from Sara. We also have an amazing book review by Matt about the Violent Ballet.

A load of changes for the men’s line up affected the results and the competition. “The COVID-19 pandemic switched up the look of the men’s field for the pole vault, introducing new obstacles in the same way it has been doing for the past year.” On the lady’s side there was a quite a battle to the very end. “The field included 2016’s Olympic Champion Katerina Stefanidi from Greece, the 2019 World Champion Anzhelika Sidorova competing for the Russian Olympic Committee, the seven-time British Champion Holly Bradshaw, and American Katie Nageotte who has been putting up world leading marks this year, among many other competitive vaulters.” Sara has two amazing articles and they’re fun to read.

Matt Barry writes about his all time favorite pole vault book and he leaves no stone unturned. “The text I consider the “New Testament” of the pole vault, second to Alan Launder’s, Beginner to Bubka: And Isanbayeva, too, which I call the “Old Testament”, is Dave Butler’s The Pole Vault: A Violent Ballet. Our athletes at Pole Vault Atlanta and those I come in contact with across the country laugh when I make that comparison of the books, however many are now intrigued as to what exactly is in Dave Butler’s book. “ I’ve started reading the book and I’m very impressed with the knowledge that is presented within the pages. Fun, informative, and easy to understand.

The office of Vaulter Magazine is nonstop, and we have so many new and exciting projects currently under our belt. We’ve dived into the world of YouTube with historical video’s Top 10 videos, camps, meet promotion and development, and that is just to name a few. Next month, we have a surprise coach that is beloved and cherished in his community.
