As for the teams, the Canton Little Giants and Lady Giants did not place high in the standings in the Metamora Co-Ed Relays on Saturday. However, on an individual basis, freshman Hannah Swift soared to a new area height in the pole vault as she cleared 12 feet. This mark breaks her old CHS record of 11′ 9 1/2″, recently set against Galesburg.

“I almost didn’t get to 12 feet,” said Swift. “It was my third attempt at 11′ 6″ and I had to drive hard to get it.”

As for the record vault?

“I screamed before I hit the pit,” she added. “Usually you know if you have made it.”
Besides Swift’s title, Isabella Kosier took first in the 800 with a time of 2:27.68. Additionally, Kosier was fifth in the triple jump while Abbi Smith (second) and Ashley Buchman (sixth) placed in the shot put.

Meanwhile, the Little Giants had two individuals and one relay team finish in the top six. Chad French claimed fourth in the 3200. Tyler Ludlum was fifth in the discus. The 800 relay team finished in sixth place.

The Lady Giants were 9th out of 12 teams while the Little Giants finished last out of the 12 teams with seven points.
