T&F Competes in the Red-Black All-Comers Meet

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State track and field team hosted the Red-Black All-Comers meet on Saturday in rainy and windy conditions.

In dual-meet action, the Aztecs defeated Cal State Fullerton, 99-23, in the exhibition competition. Additionally, the “Black” group defeated the “Red” group by a slim margin at 63.5-58.5.

SDSU picked up 10 wins against all competition, including Jasmine Burrell in the shot put (48-04.75), the discus throw (170-10) and the weight throw (61-00). Allison Reaser was also a two-time winner, taking the 600-meter run (1:38.06) and the 60 hurdles (8.79).

Other wins on the day by San Diego State came from Brittany Bozeman in the long jump (wind-aided 18-08.50), Kristen Brown in the pole vault (12-04.00), Chelsea Kruthers in the 1,000 (3:04.28), Rachel Roesgen in the 3,000 (10:34.21) and Shanieka Thomas in the 300 (40.52).

Despite the Southern California wintry conditions, 263 athletes completed in this year’s meet, up from 191 a year ago.

The Aztecs officially kick off the 2014 schedule on Jan. 24-25 at the Cherry & Silver Collegiate in Albuquerque, N.M.
