Pole vaulters may live on an island when it comes to their respective event, but they’re often among the most versatile athletes on their track and field teams, too.
Many pole vaulters score points beyond that event, and a large amount of them typically swing over to the jump pits, where they pick up marks in the horizontals.
In the field, pole vaulters most often combine their talents in the long jump, so we decided to take a look at the best combined athletes in these two events nationally.
Our top two athletes shouldn’t be much of a surprise. They have both earned national-level clearances in the pole vault: Centerville’s (OH) Yariel Soto and Warwick Valley’s Kaeli Thompson.
