ESSEXVILLE, MI — Tom Badour walks with a spring in his step.
Give him a running start and the sky is the limit.
For the high-flying, slam-dunking, bar-clearing Essexville Garber phenom, no mission stood too high, no challenge too towering, no task too tall. Great heights were his forte, and he was going to clear it.
“He was good at everything he touched,” Garber teammate Gary Crete said. “He had this all-around talent that you have to be born with. Luckily, he embraced it and worked at it. But he was definitely known as the guy who could jump out of the gym or over any pole.”
A basketball star and two-time state-champion high jumper who went on to become an all-American at Saginaw Valley State University, Badour soars into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame as part of the induction class of 2019. He’s one of seven athletes and three teams being honored Oct. 6 at the DoubleTree hotel and conference center in downtown Bay City.
