Track and field: Northfield places two on podium during state finals

In addition to the relay, The Raiders also sent Karissa Ricks to compete in the pole vault. Ricks matched her section height by clearing 10 feet, 6 inches. That total was good enough for the podium, as she finished tied for eighth overall.

“I would have liked to do a little better, but I am happy that I made the podium,” Ricks said.

Ricks, a sophomore, will have a few more years to improve on her finish.

“The wind was tough and a factor, but she battled,” Cohrs said. We like the fact she will be here for two more years. Eighth place is a great finish in this meet. There are a lot of great pole vaulters here and she definitely is one of them.”
