The USC track and field team kicked off the 2013 season in impressive fashion by taking the title in 13 events, highlighted by freshman Ariel Hayward’s win and Trojan top 10-mark in the pole vault at the 17th Rossi Relays held in Claremont, Calif. today (Feb. 23).
Hayward made her collegiate debut a memorable one as she won the women’s pole vault competition with a PR of 12-1.50 (3.70m). That clearance ties her for sixth on the USC all-time list in the women’s pole vault. Junior Thea Weiss tied for second in the event with a PR of 11-7.75 (3.55m) and senior Katherine Chang in her first-even pole vault competition tied for 10th with a clearance of 10-2.0 (3.10m).
