On the 25th September 5 coaches and 17 young athletes gathered for the Hereford and Worcester Athletics Networks first Coach Development event of the winter season a Pole Vault Development Evening with Tim Snowdon. The turnout was very positive considering the driving rain that had been present all day. Fortunately though, the skies cleared up just in time for the session. It had been a year since the last Pole Vault event, however enthusiasm had not dried up; the number of kids and representative coaches from local clubs demonstrated how keen clubs in the area are to offer more opportunities for young vaulters.

The session was practical based with Tim working closely with children in the sand and with coaches watching on, questioning as they went along. There were a number of children who showed a real talent for Pole Vaulting and took very naturally to the event. The drills were developed throughout the evening and the children continued to impress.Following the practical session Tim then discussed various techniques and carried out video analysis with coaches and a number of athletes inside.

This was a great opportunity for coaches to discuss the finer details of the event and get to grips with idea of coaching junior athletes into Pole Vaulting.
