LAWRENCE, Kan. – Bella Coscetti had an appendectomy less than a month ago.

But that didn’t stop Coscetti from winning a bronze medal in the 13-14 pole vault at the USATF Nationals on Wednesday at Rock Chalk Field.

Coscetti, who will be an eighth grader at Woodsboro Junior High, cleared 11 feet.

She was scheduled to be out four to six weeks after having surgery, but returned to practice at the Vault Barn outside of Woodsboro 15 days after her operation.
