Lake Havasu High School senior Brooke Huffman qualified for state championships moments before this (pictured) vault when she cleared a 9 foot, 6 inches-high bar.
Huffman said it will be her first time competing at the state championship.
After following up the 9-6 with a 9-9, an emotional Huffman said, “This is my first time ever clearing 9-9 in a meet. All the hard work definitely paid off.” Huffman said.
This is her second year competing in the pole vault. Volunteer pole vault coach George Olsen said Huffman, along with Ivey Hayes and Amanda Foulk broke the LHHS pole-vault-relay record with a combined score of 25-3, beating the previous record set in 2013 by three inches.
