The Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s track and field teams opened a busy weekend of action today with a strong performance at the Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas in Austin. The Antelopes also had athletes in action at Paradise Valley Community College as part of the Puma Outdoor.
Vince Frawley recorded his second NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field automatic qualifying mark in the men’s pole vault in Austin with a season-best 5.21 meters (17 feet, 1 inch), the best among all Division II athletes this season. The mark was also the best of Frawley’s career at GCU and stands as the top-mark in the program’s three-year history.
Eric Frawley collected a provisional qualifier at 5.06 meters (16 feet, 7.25 inches), the third-best in the nation and his best of the outdoor season.
GCU was also in action in Paradise Valley today, competing in the men’s and women’s 5000-meter run and men’s 3000-meter steeplechase. Results of the Puma Outdoor will be available at the conclusion of the meet on Saturday.
GCU continues action at the Texas Relays tomorrow, with events getting underway at 7:35 a.m. (Arizona time). The ‘Lopes will resume competition at the Puma Outdoor on Saturday. Fans can follow the action by visiting www.gculopes.com.
