Vocke made his own name

In an age when the three-sport athlete began its decline, Elliot Vocke stood out as a multiple sport athlete. For his dedication to playing sports at a high level for the entire school year, Vocke, Class of 2006, is being honored this week with his induction into the Napoleon Athletic Hall of Fame.

With prompting from his father, Larry, who is already in the Hall of Fame, Vocke set out to follow in his footsteps.

“It’s really kind of unique,” said Elliot Vocke, who played football, swam and pole vaulted for the track and field team. “I did all the same sports he did. He was a little bigger guy than me so he played a different position that I did in football. But I like that in the measurable events, I did a little better than he did. It’s neat.”
