PRINCETON, N.J. – Villanova had three athletes in competition Sunday afternoon on the final day of the ECAC Championship at Weaver Stadium on the Princeton campus. Junior Alexandra Wasik (Medina, Ohio) had the Wildcats top result for the day with a third place finish in the pole vault. Junior Emerald Walden (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) and sophomore Anne Yahiro (Downers Grove, Ill.) competed in the 100 meter hurdles and the triple jump, respectively.
The top three finishers in the pole vault, including Wasik along with Bethany Ledford of Robert Morris and Megan Gemar of Army, all cleared the bar at 3.87 meters. Wasik was successful on her third attempt at 3.87 meters to come in third place out of 11 competitors overall. Ledford, Gemar and Wasik were each eliminated when the bar moved up to 3.97 meters.
Yahiro came in 16th in the triple jump and registered her second best mark of the outdoor season. She recorded a mark of 12.00 meters on her second jump and came in sixth in her individual flight.
In the final of the 100 meter hurdles Walden posted a time of 14.12 and finished in sixth place. She had been an automatic qualifier for the final after finishing second in her preliminary heat on Saturday afternoon.
