WATCH Lakeland’s Calvin Gould clear 14-0 in pole vault, tie second best height in N.J.

LITTLE FALLS — Lakeland’s Calvin Gould set a new personal best in the pole vault on Wednesday to win the Big North Independence Division title and move up the statewide rankings.

After clearing 14-0 here at Passaic Valley High School, Gould is now tied with Oakcrest’s Ray Rodriguez for the second best height in the state this season. Only Matawan’s Matthew Isaacson has cleared 14-6.

Gould’s three attempts at 14-6 were close but the senior hit the bar with his lead leg on all three attempts as he tried to tie a four-year old Passaic County record set by Chris Steele of Pompton Lakes.

Check out the video Gould’s vaults above as he clears 14-0.
