HENDERSON, Ky. – The weather was the big winner during Wednesday’s 13th annual Jammin’ and Jumpin’ Street Vault.
With the competition moved under the shady trees of Audubon Mill Park for the first time, a two-hour 15-minute lightning delay pushed the pro-elite competition back to later in the evening.
A large crowd waiting for the fireworks show on the riverfront gathered to watch the pole vault competition when it resumed around 8:30 p.m.
The field of 10 male and 10 female vaulters had been trimmed to four apiece when the competition was again stopped shortly after 9:30 p.m. because of high winds. As the rain picked up near the end of the fireworks show, the event was stopped.
