Westlake junior Paige Sommers, who broke the state record in the pole vault in February, received the Gatorade California Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year award on Thursday.
“So incredibly honored!” Sommers said in a tweet. “Thank you so much to everyone who’s been with me on my journey and a special thanks to @Gatorade.”
