Who is New Zealand’s Sportswoman of the Year for 2016?

The premier sporting event in 2016 was the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and one Kiwi woman stood above the rest.

Not literally, because she’s tiny. But Lisa Carrington was the pick of a wonderful group of female athletes who stood out in Rio, winning gold in the K1 200m canoe sprint.

Alongside that, Carrington claimed a bronze medal in the K1 500m, making her the only Kiwi to come home with two medals from the 2016 Olympics.
