Women Picked Seventh, Men Eighth in Big Sky Preseason Track and Field Poll

OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State women’s track and field team was picked to finish seventh in the Big Sky Preseason Coaches Poll released today by the conference office. The men were picked to finish eighth. The Sacramento State women and Northern Arizona men were both picked to defend their 2013 titles.

The Bengal women finished third at the 2013 Big Sky Indoor Championships and return champion pole vaulter Caitlin Maulin. Also returning is outdoor 400m hurdles championHayli Worthington and all-conference high jumper Brittany Hottel. At the 2013 championships, the Bengals had four women finish in the top-five of the women’s pole vault.

Notably, the women graduated school-record holder and Big Sky Champion Camille Marchand (200m) and two-time Big Sky Champion Chloe Palakovich (800m) from the indoor team. From their outdoor team, they graduated distance runner Bradi Hutchison. She holds school records in the indoor and outdoor 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m.

At the 2013 championships, the men finished in eighth place. Clint Gosack won his second Big Sky Championship in the men’s pole vault and returns this season. The men’s 4X400m team comprised of Cade Owen, Andy Lish, Jesse Sorensen and Corbin Latimore won their first championship as well. Latimore and Sorensen return to the Bengals roster this year.

The Bengal men graduated distance runner Bryce Jenkins. Jenkins competed at the 2013 NCAA West Preliminary Round in the 3000m steeplechase. Also graduating is six-time Big Sky Pole Vault Champion Mike Arnold. Arnold finished seventh at last summer’s NCAA Track and Field Championships.
