The University of Akron will host the fourth annual Pole Vault Convention at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Stile Athletics Field House.

Former UA standout Shawn Barber headlines a field of 22 pole vaulters (10 men and 12 women) who will compete.

Barber is a six-time All-American, three-time NCAA champion, the Canadian record holder and the 2015 IAAF World Champion.

The men’s field will also include 2012 Olympian Jeremy Scott, 2013 USA national champion Jordan Scott and three -time USTA champion Mark Hollis.

UA senior Alex McCune, the American and collegiate record holder in the heptathlon pole vault, will return to competition after missing the 2015 season with an injury.

Women’s competitors include Demi Payne, an All-American from Stephen F. Austin, Mary Saxer and Becky Holiday. Payne is ranked No. 12 in the world and holds the national indoor collegiate record. Saxer is ranked 17th in the world, and Holiday was a 2012 Olympic finalist.

UA junior Caroline Hasse, who was 12th in the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championship, is also in the field.

Tickets are $10 and UA students are free with a ZipCard. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
